Today Los Angeles Lakers Center Andrew Bynum was rewarded for being injured all last season with a four-year contract extension worth $57.4 million. Bynum, whose career averages of 7.2 points and 5.6 rebounds was enough to earn the multi-million dollar deal, seemed pleased. "This has been a fantastic week for me so far: turning 21, winning our first two games of the season, and now getting this new contract signed."

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the former LA great who was a 6-time NBA champion, 6-time NBA MVP, 10-time All-NBA First Team, 5-time All-Defensive First Team, 19-time All-Star, and All-Time scoring leader in 20 NBA seasons, is widely credited with Bynum’s emergence. Working out with Jabbar since high school, Bynum has almost become a carbon copy of the onetime great. After battling each other in a heated rebounding drill Bynum suddenly stopped and shoved Jabbar. A crying Bynum turn to the All-Universe center and pleaded, "Kareem, it's time; I want to know the secret to the Sky Hook. You can't keep it from me any longer! You promised!" "You're not ready, kid. You need more training to perform the Sky Hook!" "I'm a star now! I'm worth more than you made in 20 years old man!. I want your Sky Hook now!" "You never even cared! You were just using me for the Sky Hook!" According to onlookers, that's when things got weird. Suddenly Kareem whipped off his trademark sport goggles, put his fingers to his head, and started chanting. We caught up with Lakers Captain Derek Fisher who described what happened next, "It's unbelievable, we were just standing there practicing when we heard the commotion. One second Bynum is standing next to Kareem yelling. Kareem's eyes glaze over and he starts chanting, we all just thinking he smoked too much last night, then BOOM! Grey Matter all over my face! His head just exploded man." Bynum is listed as doubtful on the Lakers injury report. The power of the Sky Hook remains safe.
