Shaq Temporarily Hospitalized After Struck by Green Rock

Have you heard the news?  As always, NBALeeks is onto the under-reported belly of the NBA like a lamprey.  This time it looks like Shaquille O'Neal was assaulted by a mystery-man.  Read on for the amazing details.

Miami Heat report star-center Shaquille O'Neal was briefly hospitalized after an unknown assailant threw a green rock at Shaq's head. Shaquille O'Neal received only a few stitches at Miami General before being released to the Team Physician.

At approximately 8:34.88 MST the event occurred. Just previous, Shaquille O'Neal and several of his Miami Heat teammates allegedly ate dinner at a local restaurant called “Kansas Buffet.” After collectively finishing off the “Fortress of Pork” group-size dinner, the ensemble is said to have departed out the side door to avoid attention. Outside, the assailant was waiting for the group to emerge when he tossed the rock and ran quickly down a side-alley. While the rock struck Shaquille O'Neal just above the temple, it is not known if the assailant was aiming for the Super-Star NBA player.

“I never seen nuthin' like that,” teammate Dwayne Wade told NBALeeks, “One minute Shaq's telling his favorite farm-joke, and the next he's slumped against the wall with blood coming out his head. Cracker goes runnin' down the street and gone before we can react.”

Shaq was treated at the scene then taken to Miami General for “a small handful of stitches” according to team physician Jonothan McDonneld. Pressed further on the matter, “He was hit in the head with a small crystalline projectile, what everyone is calling a 'green rock.' Now let me be straight with you: it hurts to get hit in the head, even for someone as super as Shaq; he's going to have a headache but he'll be back up in action for tomorrow's game.”

“Shaq's as tough as they come. I can't think of anyone tougher, really,” Coach Pat Riley told NBALeeks in a short telephone exchange, “Here's the truth: the kid could come back from the dead.  This'll only make him stronger.

The assailant was reported as approximately 6 feet in height, bald, and wearing a White Parka with the initials "L.L." embroidered on the back.
